Owner Vic Walter began his experience in the video industry in ’96 where he was enrolled in television production courses throughout his high school career at Zion Benton Township High School. Achieving over hundreds of out-of-classroom volunteer hours with the local cable station. In March of 2000, the cable company TCI of Northeast Illinois, now known as Comcast, hired Mr. Walter as a part-time L/O Operator where he programmed content on the local cable channels and technical support for local producers who utilized the company-owned studio.
VBV Entertainment Company was born from a passionate hobby of a high school kid in 2000 who was driven from the very beginning to provide creative, yet affordable video production services and that mission is still the cornerstone of our mission today.
In July of ’01 the cable co. was bought out by a larger company and employee restructuring occurred that put Mr. Walter in a full-time position and responsible for multiple n facilities. With this promotion came additional responsibilities such as teaching television production courses, performing equipment maintenance and administration duties in operating studios and cable television playback operations. Mr. Walter also went on to work several production crew positions on many cable company network programs such as Lake County Star Channel 3, Community Connection, Comcast Sports Network and coverage of dozens of local community events such as parades, pageants and more.
While enjoying the steady work with the cable company, Mr. Walter was still driven by his desire to provide creative and affordable services to members and businesses in the local community and he did so after forming VBV Entertainment Company. The ‘VBV’ is an acronym for ‘Videos By Vic’, which came directly from the first flyers made by his grandmother who supported his efforts in starting this venture and the name just stuck. As more clientele came through the door, he felt that a name change would feel more appropriate and the acronym was a good way to remember where he came from.
In 2009, the cable company went through a massive layoff in the production department where Mr. Walter was working and unfortunately he was a part of this departure. However, this resulted in more focus on VBV Entertainment. Due to his years of experience with the cable company, their operations and hands-on at all of their Chicagoland facilities, Comcast provided Mr. Walter an opportunity for VBV Entertainment Company to become a vendor. Mr. Walter then began providing various production, playback and engineering services to the cable company on a project-by-project basis all over the state of Illinois. Providing preventative maintenance and engineering services at their studios & playback centers, building out a mobile production vehicle, studio decommissions and mergers, and regularly crewing on productions such as Comcast Sports Network, Community Connection, Comcast Backstage, as well as many internal projects.
